The Vermont Voyageurs Junior lacrosse team clinched the number one seed in the playoffs after an unbeaten regular season in MJLL play. The Voyageurs who are now an impressive 6-0 in their first year as a member of the FCQ (Fédération de crosse du Québec) await the winner of a best of three series between the Montreal Shamrocks and the Kanehsatake Warriors. The first game of the 3 game championship series will be held at Essex Skating Facility in Essex Junction, Vt on Friday 7/25 at 8PM. Come out and watch the first Junior playoff game in Vermont Lacrosse history. Tickets are $7 for Adults and $3 for Children/Students with ID.

Come out to the Voyageurs games this weekend and support a great cause. The Junior and Senior Voyageurs are in action this weekend at Essex Skating Facility in Essex Junction, VT. Games start Saturday 6/28 at 4PM with the Juniors taking on the Montreal Shamrocks followed by the Senior team vs the Sherbrooke Extreme at 7PM. Tickets are $7 for Adults $3 for children, kids bring your helmet and stick and shoot on the goalie in between periods. We will be raffling off sticks, shirts and a 50/50 prize and proceeds from that combined with all proceeds from food and drinks will be going to “Team Dave” for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. By Stephen Watson @ WPTZ   Opening weekend for semi-pro box lacrosse. Five on five, hard hitting, fast pace lacrosse played indoors. Ottawa Axemen traveling to take on the Vermont Voyageurs. Brandon Dube bounces one in to open the scoring for the home team. Back come the Axemen, Davey Hallet blows by the defense, takes it towards net, and buries the bouncer: 1-1. Later in the period, Jordan Joncas finds a lane in front, fakes out the keeper to give the visitors a 3-1 lead. Closing minutes of the 1st, Dube intercepts a pass, his first shot is blocked, but former UVM Catamount and current Milton lax coach Trevor Wagar does the dirty work inside.. The Voyageurs have selected their head coach for the Upcoming season. Joel Derechinsky will be taking the helm for the Voyageurs. Derechinsky played Junior A for the Calgary Raiders and more recently in the NALL for the Kentucky Stickhorses. A standout player at Gordon College and a Masters Student at BU in Sports Psychology. Owner Brandon Dube on signing Derechinsky, "We are happy to have Joel on board for the 2014 season... he has been coached by some of the best and also coached at a high level." The Voyageurs Home Opener will be May 17th at 7PM.
